Over 880 investment projects are being implemented in the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation, noted Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, in his address to the participants of the Arctic—Regions Forum.

'A special economic zone has been created in the Arctic, within which over 880 investment projects are currently being implemented. 230 enterprises have already been put into operation and 16,000 jobs have been created,' TASS quoted from the welcoming speech.

Yury Trutnev noted that Russia's pivot to the East has brought new opportunities and challenges for both the Arctic and the entire country. 'The need for accelerated development of domestic technologies, changing suppliers, altering logistics routes and faster development of the North Sea Route has become evident,' Trutnev explained.
