Arctic mining is not limited to oil and gas

Coal mining enterprises also operate in the Arctic Zone.

One of those is currently developing the deposits in Chukotka. Over the past ten years, coal production in Russia has grown by over 30 per cent to reach 440 mln tons, and now the country is the third-largest producer of coal in the world.
