Unified digital service platform for North Sea Route to launch in early 2025
The platform will initially provide access to 27 out of 34 services.
12 December 2024The Unified Digital Services Platform (UDSP) for the North Sea Route will become operational from the start of 2025. As reported by IAA PortNews correspondent, Pavel Khristenko, Head of the Digital Arctic Directorate at Greenatom JSC, announced this at the 14th International Forum Arctic: Today and the Future.
According to Pavel Khristenko, through the digital tools and services offered by the platform, shipowners will be able to work directly with Rosatom State Corporation, specifically with its three main enterprises on the North Sea Route: FSUE Atomflot, FSUE Hydrographic Enterprise and FSBI GlavSevmorput. The platform is part of an ecosystem being developed by Rosatom, which also includes port measurement complexes, drones and a data fund.
The UDSP comprises nine subsystems, including navigation and hydrographic support for shipping, navigation management and navigation safety. The services employ artificial intelligence technologies to Interpret satellite imagery. The system can now plot a ship's route along the NSR in 5–7 minutes (previously taking hours). The UDSP utilises all available information sources: besides satellites, these include buoys, onboard systems and others.
A total of 34 services are planned for the UDSP, with 27 to be available in the initial phase. The second phase of UDSP development is set to launch during 2025.
