Russian companies in the Arctic will be forced to invest in the ecology of production
The President stressed that this applies not only to oil companies, but also to many others, including metallurgical enterprises
29 October 2020Russian companies operating in the Arctic will be forced to comply with the requirements of the Paris Climate Agreements. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the VTB Capital forum "Russia is calling!", TASS reports.
“Large Russian companies will be forced to do this. Because the laws adopted in Russia will force participants in economic activity, our economic agents to adhere to certain rules developed in the legislation. And these rules, translated into legislative acts, into the laws of the Russian Federation, fully meet the requirements of the Paris Agreements. We have made these changes to our internal law in order to put our largest gas emitters in a position in which they will be obliged to follow the requirements set forth in the Paris Agreement, ”he said.
Putin added that this applies not only to oil companies, but also to many others, including metallurgical enterprises.
