Zhatai shipyard to be launched in test mode in 2025
The project in Yakutia is being implemented under the federal state programme 'Development of Shipbuilding and Marine Technology for the Development of Offshore Fields.'
12 July 2024By the end of 2024, the main work on the first stage of construction of the Zhatai shipyard will be completed, said the Chairman of the Government of Yakutia, Kirill Bychkov, after inspecting the construction of the plant. The MediaPaluba portal writes about this.
After the inspection, a number of operational decisions were made related to the construction of an overpass, a slipway and the purchase of technological equipment.
'The facility is of strategic importance for the country given the active development of the Arctic,' noted Kirill Bychkov. 'Of course, the project is gigantic in scale and technological complexity. No one has ever built such facilities in permafrost conditions. Today there are certain changes in the speed of work completion. They are carried out according to the training schedule, in accordance with the established deadlines.'
After completion of the modernisation, the Zhatai shipyard will become a full-fledged shipbuilding cluster, which will "pull" the development of a huge number of sectors of the economy of the republic and other regions. The Zhatai shipyard will ensure the creation of a modern river fleet for cargo transportation in the Lena basin and in the Arctic zone, including along the North Sea Route.
