Yakutian authorities plan to implement online education standards in 11 nomadic schools by 2029. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the region's Ministry of Education and Science.

'It is expected that by 2029, 11 nomadic schools in Yakutia will implement online education standards, and 95 general educational institutions will adopt online education standards,' the press service stated.

In January 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed officials to explore the creation of nomadic schools in the regions, emphasising the importance of preserving the traditions and culture of indigenous peoples.

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has developed a project to introduce online education standards, including for nomadic schools, starting from 2025. The programme includes equipping nomadic schools with computers and tablets, as well as organising professional development courses for nomadic school teachers. 'There aren't many of them; currently, about 18 teachers and 8 educators work in nomadic schools,' the ministry specified.

There are 72 children studying in 6 nomadic schools in Yakutia. According to the authorities, only 5.2% of the total number of children in areas of traditional residence of indigenous and small-numbered peoples receive education in the region's nomadic schools.
