The State Commission for Arctic Development discussed the creation of emergency rescue centres on the North Sea Route
Taking into account the plan to develop cargo traffic along the North Sea Route, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations is developing emergency rescue infrastructure in the Arctic zone.
4 June 2024In late May, the Presidium of the State Commission for Arctic Development held a meeting on the creation of Arctic Complex Emergency and Rescue Centres (ACERC) and the placement of units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) and Marine Rescue Service on their premises. The Project Office for Arctic Development (POAD) writes about it.
Taking into account the plan to develop cargo traffic along the North Sea Route, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations is now developing emergency rescue infrastructure in the Arctic zone of Russia. And while in the western part of the AZRF Arctic centres of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Naryan-Mar, Vorkuta and Dudinka have been established and are successfully performing their tasks, in the eastern part of the Russian Arctic the Ministry of Emergency Situations units have not been based so far.
At the meeting of the Presidium of the State Commission for Arctic Development, they discussed plans to create four new Arctic complex rescue centres in the eastern part of the AZRF: in Pevek, Sabetta, Tiksi and Dixon, as well as seven Arctic air rescue units—in Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Sabetta, Dixon, Tiksi, Pevek and Anadyr.
