The Duma Committee approved the expansion of the Arctic Hectare programme

18 September 2024The State Duma Committee for the Development of the Far East and Arctic recommended that the parliament chamber adopt the bill on the expansion of the Hectare in the Arctic programme to the territories of the Beloyarsky and Berezovsky municipal districts of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area in its first reading. This was reported by TASS.
The bill proposes amendments to the law 'On the Features of Granting Citizens Land Plots Owned by the State or Municipalities and Located in the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation and Other Territories of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation, and on Amending Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation.
The Hectare in the Arctic programme allows to obtain a free land plot of up to one hectare in the Arctic zone of Russia for building housing and setting up a business. It is proposed to include the territories of the Beloyarsky and Berezovsky municipal districts of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area—Ugra in this programme. In March, these municipalities were included in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The bill, if passed, would take effect on 1 September 2025.
