Over 6,500 free hectares distributed in the Arctic over three years

The total area of 'Arctic hectares' reached 5,859 ha.

From the launch of the Hectare in the Arctic programme in 2021 until the end of November 2024, 6,589 land plots were granted for free use. An additional 32 plots were transferred for ownership or lease. The Far Eastern and Arctic Hectare project implementation department of JSC FEDC provided this information to the Arctic Russia investment portal.

Under the Hectare in the Arctic programme, Russian citizens can apply for free land use in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. This land can later be registered as private property. The 'Arctic hectare' can be used to build individual housing, set up a smallholding or agricultural enterprise, develop a tourism project, or start another business venture. Programme participants are eligible for various regional and federal support measures, including grants, subsidies and other benefits.
