5 September 2024Investments in the construction of the Vorkuta Gas Chemical Complex are estimated at RUB 200 bn. This was reported by TASS. An agreement on cooperation for exploring the possibility of implementing a major investment project, the Vorkuta Chemical Complex, which will be built in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, was signed on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). The document was signed in the presence of Aleksey Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic.
'The main products of the complex will be ammonia and urea with production capacities of 1.2 mn tons and 1.7 mn tons per year, respectively. The total investment in the project may reach RUB 200 bn, and the implementation of the project will create up to 2 thousand new jobs,' the report says.
According to Aleksey Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, the realisation of this project is an important component in the long-term strategy of economic development of the northern territories. The construction of the Vorkuta Gas Chemical Complex 'will breathe new life into Vorkuta and create conditions for diversification of the economy of the Republic and the city,' noted the head of the Komi Republic, Vladimir Uyba.
