Indian seafarers to receive training in Russia for Arctic navigation

An agreement has been reached to prepare seafarers for Arctic navigation at the Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University.

An agreement between India and Russia has been reached to prepare seafarers for Arctic navigation at the Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University. TASS reports this, citing the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways of India.

'India and Russia have also agreed to train Indian seafarers for navigation in polar and Arctic waters at Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University, which is equipped with suitable simulators,' stated the press release from the Indian ministry.

Discussing cooperation on the Eastern Economic Corridor, Sarbananda Sonowal, Head of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways of India, reminded that India proposed a working seminar in Chennai in October to discuss this transportation project's implementation.

'We aim to engage parties interested in trading and transporting potential commodities such as coking coal, petroleum and liquefied natural gas,' the Indian minister stated.
