The head of Karelia introduced potential investors to projects planned for implementation in key Arctic settlements. These include constructing a commercial seaport in Belomorsk, an airport in Poduzhemye and a modern marine terminal with a marina for private vessels in Rabocheostrovsk, which serves as a gateway for tourists heading to the Solovetsky Archipelago. Plans also include building two modern resorts—an all-season resort in Kemi and an aquathermal hotel complex in Belomorsk. This was reported by the Karelia newspaper.

The agglomeration boasts rich reserves of construction stone for producing crushed stone and houses the largest Lobash molybdenum deposit.

'The implementation of all social and investment projects within the agglomeration is expected to boost the gross urban product from RUB 20.8 bn to RUB 42.3 bn and create 3,700 new jobs. By 2035, we anticipate a significant increase in key economic sectors of the agglomeration: mineral extraction is expected to grow 19-fold, tourism by 3.5 times, manufacturing nearly triple, and logistics by 1.6 times. We are eager to collaborate with VEB.RF on investment projects,' emphasised Artur Parfenchikov.

The Kemsko-Belomorsk agglomeration has been included in the list of key settlements in the Russian Arctic by presidential decree. Karelia is jointly developing a master plan with VEB.RF for its advancement.
