Arctic master plans are scheduled to be approved in early 2025
Aleksey Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, noted that work is underway to prioritise the objects.
5 November 2024Aleksey Chekunkov, head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, said that the master plans of 16 Arctic agglomerations are expected to be approved in the first quarter of 2025. This was reported by TASS.
'I would set a goal for an act of government for the first quarter of 2025. But I would like to emphasise that, since the work on the creation of master plans on behalf of the President was carried out all this year, we have worked out master plans with each region,' he said.
Chekunkov also noted that work is now underway to prioritise facilities. 'Right now, my colleagues, deputies and I are going through all the AZRF key settlements and prioritising facilities. Always the first approach involves maximising the number of activities that regions have declared. This is right, this is good, of course, we want to do everything at once, but we understand that in today's conditions, the work of prioritisation is very important, which is what we are doing in the first place. And we allocate funds for this, and we concentrate on it, and develop these very points. <...> We are ahead of schedule in implementing a number of measures,' he explained.
Earlier Chekunkov reported that the work to identify sources of funding for the Arctic master plans continues, it is planned that up to 2/3 of the funds will come from extra-budgetary sources.
