Yakutia's experience in providing medical coverage in the Arctic was proposed to be extended to the Russian Federation
The head of the republic Aysen Nikolaev said that mobile medical and mobile surgical teams should be established in regions with hard-to-reach areas.
5 September 2024Yakutia's head Aysen Nikolayev suggested that Yakutia's experience in creating mobile medical teams in the Arctic and travelling surgical teams be extended to regions with hard-to-reach territories, speaking at the EEF session 'Orientations for Advanced Healthcare in the Far East. Best Practices.' This was reported by TASS.
'I informed the session participants about the innovative approaches to healthcare in Yakutia, specifically about the work of the republic's Mobile Brigades Centre and the Mobile Surgical Centre, which have already proven their effectiveness. I believe that these projects can be spread in the Arctic zone of the country and in all regions where there are small and hard-to-reach settlements,' stated a message on Nikolaev's Telegram channel.
The Decade of Health has been declared in Yakutia since 2021, and one of the most important tasks is the availability of quality medicine for every resident of the republic. In 2023, a new model of Arctic medicine was launched and a regional mobile team centre was established, covering 89 communities in the region's Arctic zone. The Mobile Surgical Centre project was launched in 2024. Medical teams regularly travel to district hospitals, where they provide the necessary specialised surgical care and conduct practical master classes for district surgeons.
