Trutnev: The feasibility of launching an adventure competition in the Arctic will be examined
The competition in the Far East will be conducted in three categories.
19 April 2024An adventure competition, similar to the one held in the Far East, may be introduced in the Arctic. This was reported by TASS, citing Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District.
The Far East—Land of Adventures competition is held under Trutnev's initiative as part of President Vladimir Putin's directives on domestic tourism development; applications for participation in the second nationwide competition will start being accepted in May. The competition's prize pool amounts to RUB 7.2 mn, with more than 10 winners and runners-up to be selected, and the grand prize is RUB 3 mn.
'The shift towards active travel is working, <...> lounging on sunbeds brings nothing positive to a person's life. <...> The Arctic is a much harsher and riskier territory, <...> but it is in no way inferior to the Far East. <...> I think the proposal [to create a similar competition in the Arctic] is correct, we will consider it,' he said.
The competition in the Far East will be held in three categories: hiking, water travel and winter travel. Activities in the categories will be expanded in 2024.
