4 October 2024The Unified Maritime Operator for Northern Supply, currently being piloted in Chukotka, is planned to expand to the Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Magadan and Sakhalin Regions, as well as the Krasnoyarsk and Kamchatka Territories, and Yakutia. This was reported by the press service of Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, following a meeting of the State Commission on Arctic Development, TASS writes.
It's noted that work has begun on creating a federal state information system to monitor northern supply. This system will automate management processes and combine planning, cargo movement monitoring, and execution control functions.
The planned volume of northern supply for the current year is 4 mn tons. Priority transportation of northern supply cargo by rail and sea is envisaged. As part of subsidised voyages along the North Sea Route, over 700 tons of food were delivered to Pevek as a priority. 'The law was passed to ensure that Arctic residents receive all necessary goods promptly and at lower prices,' Trutnev said.
