The Cabinet of Ministers allocates more than RUB 2.5 bn for Arctic regional development in 2023
According to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the funds will enable the construction and renovation of kindergartens, schools, polyclinics, cultural centres and sports facilities.
14 January 2023Expanding the social infrastructure of the Arctic regions is one of the most important tasks of the Russian government. This was reported by TASS on Tuesday, citing a statement by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at the first meeting of the Cabinet in 2023.
'Expanding the social infrastructure there (in the Arctic regions—TASS note) is one of the most important tasks of the government,' the prime minister said, adding that more than RUB 2.5 bn had been allocated for its implementation this year.
According to Mikhail Mishustin, the allocated funds will enable the construction and renovation of kindergartens, schools, polyclinics, cultural centres and sports facilities. Part of this amount will also go towards the purchase of equipment for medical facilities.
The Prime Minister drew attention to the fact that tax deductions from new investment projects implemented by residents of preferential regimes in the Arctic zone will now be earmarked for initiatives of importance to people.
