SEVERMETALLSTROY LLC, a resident of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF), has initiated the production of recycled rubber coatings in Norilsk. An investment of RUB 88.3 mn is being made into the project in agreement with the Far East Development Corporation (FEDC), creating 24 new jobs.

The company offers tyre recycling services for corporations and is collaborating with the Norilsk administration to establish collection points for individuals. The enterprise has initiated a line for tyre recycling and the production of tiles and paving stones from crumb rubber. Additionally, the production team is exploring the technique of creating various shapes from crumb rubber.

'In the Norilsk industrial region, there are no highways that lead to another region, and there is no railway. Transportation is only possible during the short summer navigation period on the Yenisei River. As a result, logistics costs increase significantly. That's why local production of building materials is so crucial. We have focused on the mechanised method of recycling, which is a priority in Russia and allows us to obtain secondary raw materials,' said Valeria Tereshkova, CEO of the company, adding that the project will also improve the environmental situation by reducing the number of unauthorised dumps.

As a resident of the AZRF, SEVERMETALLSTROY LLC receives a monthly reimbursement of a portion of expenses for insurance premiums. Other support measures provided for AZRF residents are also being explored.
