Nearly 3,300 Arctic hectares have been distributed in the region.
10 December 2024The Murmansk Region has become the leader in the number of land plots granted for free use under the Hectare in the Arctic programme. From the programme's launch in 2021 to mid-November 2024, the region has allocated 3,284 'Arctic hectares.' The Far Eastern and Arctic Hectare project implementation department of JSC FEDC provided this information to the Arctic Russia investment portal.
The Republic of Karelia came second with 1,695 plots, while the Arkhangelsk Region rounded out the top three, having issued 768 plots. The Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area issued 606 'Arctic hectares,' the Krasnoyarsk Territory—116, the Nenets Autonomous Area—74 and the Komi Republic—46.
The total area of allocated plots amounted to 5,385 hectares, with 7,749 people participating in the programme. The press service notes that some applications are collective, so the number of participants always exceeds the number of 'hectares' issued.
