More than 66 thousand employees are needed in the regions of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation in 2024
The Murmansk Region, Yamal-Nenets Area and Arkhangelsk Region experience the greatest shortage of personnel.
1 June 2024Regions of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF) need more than 66 thousand workers in 2024, said Pavel Maryandyshev, Acting Rector of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University (NArFU) in his speech at the session 'Arctic Dialogue' of the 3rd Arctic: Breaking the Ice Forum and Festival. The university conducted a study of the human resource potential of the AZRF through 2035. This is reported by TASS.
'It's jobs, engineering and job specialties. This need drops slightly to 51,000 by 2035, but still remains. The Arctic is a strategic region that needs human capital,' said Maryandyshev.
According to the study, the greatest shortage of personnel in 2024 will be experienced by the Murmansk Region (21 thousand people), Yamal-Nenets Area (18 thousand people), Arkhangelsk Region (14 thousand people).
When training personnel for the northern regions, the University cooperates with the largest employers: Sevmash, Zvezdochka Ship Repair Centre, APPM, AGD Diamonds, Gazpromneft and others.
