More than 1,800 jobs will be created in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area (YNAA) as a result of projects implemented by entrepreneurs who have been granted resident status in the Arctic zone. The figures were announced at a meeting between the district's governor, Dmitry Artyukhov, and the Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, Aleksey Chekunkov. This is reported by TASS.

'It was about the county's entrepreneurs who have been granted resident status in the Arctic zone. As of today, there are 79 entrepreneurs. They are implementing 82 projects with a total investment of RUB 26.9 bn. As a result of the projects, 1,800 jobs will be created,' the report says, specifying that the projects are being implemented in the service and real estate sectors, logistics, agriculture, tourism and fisheries.

Dmitry Artyukhov, Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, noted that the prospects for the development of the Arctic regions are not only linked to their industrial development. 'We can see how much in demand Yamal's tourism potential is today when Russians are increasingly travelling around the country. For example, the number of visitors to the reindeer herder's main holiday, Reindeer Herder's Day, has more than doubled in the past few years. Our business also sees opportunities in this direction - the number of regional tour operators has also increased several times,' he said.
