More and more people in Karelia are registering land for residential housing under the Hectare in the Arctic programme
Nearly 800 plots have been allocated since May this year.
1 October 2024Yanina Svidskaya, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Karelia, presented a report to the head of the republic, indicating an increase in the allocation of plots for various purposes under the Hectare in the Arctic programme. This is reported by the Republic of Karelia portal.
'From May to 1 September, we have allocated almost 800 plots for individual housing construction. That's more compared to the same period last year. However, the number of large families wishing to obtain a plot now exceeds six thousand. Since 2021, 2,600 families have already received rights to plots,' Yanina Svidskaya noted in the report.
Therefore, a comprehensive set of measures is being implemented in Karelia to bring new land into use, allowing families to build their own homes. The main one is land inventory. In Karelia's districts, more than three thousand plots were identified that had been allocated for individual housing construction, but 10 years later, the houses had not been built or registered. Out of this number, 325 properties were successfully registered.
