Law on abolishing border regime in the Arctic and Far Eastern Federal District for Russian cruise ships adopted

Vasily Piskarev, Chairman of the relevant committee, stated that domestic cruise companies and tour operators can now create more appealing routes than their foreign counterparts.

The State Duma has passed a law on abolishing border regime for Russian cruise ships in ports located in the internal sea waters and territorial sea of the Russian Federation in the Arctic zone and the Far Eastern Federal District. This was reported by the press service of the State Duma.

'Now, cruise ships under our flag that dock at Russian points and ports in these territories will not be subject to border regime rules,' said Vasily Piskarev, Chairman of the Committee on Security and Counteraction to Corruption, 'All that is required is to notify the border authorities about the route, passengers, and crew members.'

The parliamentarian believes that Russian cruise companies and tour operators can now create more appealing routes than their foreign counterparts.

The law will take effect 180 days after its official publication.
