Participants of the regional program will learn about the culture of the Northern peoples and visit landmarks and socially significant facilities in Salekhard and Labytnangi.

12 March 2024

The regional program Live and Work in Russia will take place in Yamal from March 12 to 16. The district will be visited by 58 people from 32 countries participating in the World Youth Festival 2024. This was reported by the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area regional government's press service.

Each day of the program will be dedicated to a specific theme. The first day will focus on Yamal's culture. Plans include crossing the Arctic Circle and taking a sightseeing tour around Salekhard and its main attractions.

The educational segment on the second day of the program will take place at the Polaris Art Residence. A strategic session is planned here, focusing on three topics: ecology, tourism, and volunteering. Participants will share their countries' practices in these areas and develop joint projects.

On the third day, participants will visit socio-economic sites in Salekhard, and on the final day, they will embark on an ethnographic journey to a camp of indigenous peoples of the North. There, guests will enjoy mass rides on reindeer sleds and TREKOL off-roaders. They will also participate in national sports such as ethno-biathlon, mas-wrestling, and sledge jumping.
