In the Kemsky District of Karelia, Applications for 43 Arctic Hectares Were Approved in the First Two Months of 2024

Another 55 applications are currently under review.

In the Kemsky district, the Arctic Hectare program includes 470 hectares of settlement lands and almost 70 hectares of forest fund lands. This was announced by Artur Parfenchikov during a meeting on the socio-economic development of the Kemsky district, according to the press service of the Government of the Republic of Karelia.

"The provision of land plots for free use is actively underway. To date, 213 positive decisions have been made, including 43 decisions since the beginning of 2024," noted the head of Karelia. "Mostly, people are choosing territories for individual housing construction, personal subsidiary farming, and for establishing small businesses in the tourism and services sectors."

Sergey Sedletsky, Minister of Property and Land Relations of Karelia, spoke about the positive trend in issuing permits for land use under the Arctic Hectar program. In 2021, 22 applications were approved, in 2022 the number increased to 56, and in 2023 to 92. In the first two months of 2024, 43 applications have been approved and another 55 are currently under review.
