Goldstein, who headed the Jewish Autonomous Region, became Komi's deputy mayor

5 November 2024Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on changing the leadership of the Komi Republic. According to the text of the document signed by the head of state, Rostislav Goldstein, who has been the head of the Jewish Autonomous Region since 2019, was appointed acting head of the region. This was reported by TASS.
'To appoint Rostislav Ernstovich Goldstein temporarily acting head of the Komi Republic until the entry into office of the person elected head of the Komi Republic,' stated in the text of the decree.
The same decree accepted the resignation of the head of the Komi Republic Vladimir Uyba at his own request.
Uyba said in a video message to the republic's residents that he was stepping down from his post because 'Russian President Vladimir Putin entrusted him with a new front of work at the federal level.' Uyba thanked his team and heads of municipalities for their joint productive work, and the residents of the region for their support. The new head of the Komi Republic will be elected on the unified day of voting (UDG) on 14 September 2025.
Rostislav Goldstein has been head of the Jewish Autonomous Region since 12 December 2019.
