Kola NPP, the administration of the station's partner town Polarnye Zori, and Russian Salmon LLC have signed an agreement to build a breeding site for rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon. This is reported by Arctic TV.

It will be located within the sanitary protection zone of Kola NPP. Russian Salmon is planning to use the warm water from the diversion channel in its operations. The construction zone is extensive, 2.5 to 3 thousand square meters in size, and will include on-site water treatment facilities to minimize the negative impact on the ecosystem of Lake Imandra. The investment in the new project is estimated at 1-2 billion rubles, with the prospect of creating additional jobs.

By the end of 2026, Russian Salmon expects to release the first 4 million rainbow trout fry per year.

As reported by the Kola NPP Communications Department, Russian Salmon, a resident of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, was founded in 2005 and launched a fish factory in the settlement of Liinakhamari in the Murmansk region at the end of 2022. The new site near the Kola NPP will be a new step in the development of the region's fishing industry.
