The State Duma Committee on the Far East and Arctic Development endorsed Yury Trutnev as Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District and Aleksey Chekunkov as Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, recommending their confirmation by the State Duma. This was reported to RBC in the press service of the Deputy Prime Minister.

'The committee unanimously approved this decision,' stated Nikolay Kharitonov, chairman of the Duma Committee. 'Deputy Chairman Irina Yarovaya added that Trutnev and Chekunkov have proven through their life's work that there are no mere formal tasks; all tasks are substantial.'

At the committee meeting, Chekunkov emphasised that his primary goal is to ensure a comfortable, fulfilling life for Far East residents under challenging conditions compared to European Russia. Trutnev expressed his commitment to achieving significant results in the near future.

Trutnev serves as Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, former governor of Perm Region and ex-Minister of Natural Resources of Russia. He has held the position of Deputy Prime Minister since 2013.

Chekunkov is currently serving as Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic. Since February 2015, he has been part of the Government Commission on Socio-Economic Development of the Far East.
