'Another issue that we consider annually at the commission is the implementation of the Arctic Hectare programme,' said Matvey Chuprov, chairman of the relevant commission of the NAA Assembly of Deputies. This was reported by Moskovsky Komsomolets.

The federal programme became effective in the region on 1 August 2021. Nearly 62 ha of land near the Kuya village have been allocated during this period. Participants are mostly residents of the region who use the land for recreation, fishing and tourism. The process of finding suitable areas in the district is ongoing.

'The deputies recommended taking into account the integrated development of the territories allocated under the Arctic Hectare programme near the Kuya village when developing the master plan for Naryan-Mar,' noted M. Chuprov.

According to the official website of the NAA Assembly of Deputies, the commission will continue to consider issues in its remit in the second half of the year, and field trips on environmental protection matters are also planned.
