Nornickel plans to build a seven-storey campus for the Fedorovsky Polar State University, the northernmost university in Russia, by 2035. This was reported to TASS by the company's Vice President, Andrey Grachev, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.

The project involves the construction of a seven-storey building consisting of three sections—a public block, a faculty section and a student section. The complex will provide residential areas for both students and teachers, a hotel, hostel, medical block, administrative offices, an area for organising the educational process, a conference hall, a co-working area and recreational areas. The concept of creating an exposition and educational space dedicated to the history of geological discoveries in Norilsk is also being developed.

Fedorovsky Polar State University is the only state university on the Taimyr Peninsula in the north of Krasnoyarsk Territory. According to Norilsk's socio-economic development strategy, in 2035, the number of university students will increase from 1.5 thousand to 2.2 thousand. The university in Norilsk is expected to become the best engineering university in the Arctic.
