7 April 2023

Russia is ready to conduct joint research with Vietnam at its Arctic research stations, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said at a meeting on Friday in Hanoi with the team of the Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Research and Technology Centre. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

'Not only do we intend to continue research in Vietnam—in climatic conditions that do not exist in Russia—but we are also ready to host Vietnamese colleagues at our Arctic research stations,' Chernyshenko said.

He praised the work of the Tropical Centre, which has been going on for three and a half decades. 'Today, the Tropical Centre is a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary scientific institution that is actively developing: new facilities are being built here and modern equipment is being purchased,' the deputy prime minister said.

According to him, while in 2021, more than 150 Russian scientists participated in the centre's research, joining 45 expeditions and publishing 173 articles, the number of scientists from Russia has almost doubled to 266 people already in 2022.
