Rostec began supplying upgraded tropospheric communication stations for the Arctic and mountainous regions

The equipment allows to provide broadband communication within a radius of 210 km where it is difficult to organise it in a traditional way—in hard-to-reach areas of the Far North, in the mountains, at remote industrial facilities, etc.

Roselectronica Holding has supplied the first tropospheric communication stations Grozа equipped with an updated digital modem based on neural networks. This is reported by the company's press service in Rostec's official Telegram channel.

The equipment allows to provide broadband communication within a radius of 210 km where it is difficult to organise it in a traditional way—in hard-to-reach areas of the Far North, in the mountains, at remote industrial facilities, etc. The station is capable of supporting data rates up to 45.5 Mbps.

The Groza uses technology based on signal reflection from the troposphere, the lower layer of the atmosphere. A minimum of two receiving and transmitting stations are required to establish a tropospheric link. The 150 cm diameter antenna can be mounted on the roof of a building, a mobile mast or a tripod.

The solution includes a digital modem, which is able to learn through neural networks in the process of operation and isolate a useful signal from the background noise. The new version of the modem features upgraded built-in information processing algorithms. This allowed almost doubling the data transfer rate compared to the previous equipment modification.
