Roscosmos and Rosrybolovstvo to collaborate in the field of navigation within the Arctic zone

Yuri Borisov, the CEO of the state corporation, noted that in 2024, it is planned to address crucial issues related to communication and weather forecasting in the Arctic, and by 2025–2026, Roscosmos will be able to provide information for predicting and monitoring bioresources.

Roscosmos and Rosrybolovstvo will collaborate on using Earth remote sensing (ERS) data and the GLONASS navigation system to ensure precise navigation in the Arctic zone. The agreement was signed by Yuri Borisov, CEO of Roscosmos, and Ilya Shestakov, head of Rosrybolovstvo, as reported by the state corporation to TASS.

'For us, Rosrybolovstvo is one of the most important clients and consumers of space services. This includes high-precision navigation and ensuring reliable communication and data transmission, especially in the inaccessible Arctic regions of our country. We hope that this agreement will lay a long-term foundation for our cooperation,' Roscosmos quoted Borisov as saying.

Both parties will also investigate the potential use of remote sensing data to enhance the productivity of the fishing industry. It is also planned to incorporate the services of the Digital Earth project.
