Rosatomflot sets a new record for cargo transportation along the North Sea Route
In the first six months of 2024, Rosatomflot provided 438 ship calls.
5 July 2024On 5 July, FSUE Atomflot issued preliminary results of the winter and spring navigation season. In the period from 1 January 2024 to 30 June 2024, nuclear icebreakers provided 438 ship calls (for comparison, for the same period in 2023—435). The total gross tonnage amounted to 50.4 mn tons (for comparison, for the same period in 2023—48.6 mn tons). The news was reported by the press service of the FSUE Atomflot.
'Despite external factors, we managed to improve the indicators of winter-spring navigation for the same period of the previous year,' noted General Director of FSUE Atomflot Leonid Irlitsa. 'This is an excellent result of the joint work of the entire North Sea Route (NSR) Directorate of the Rosatom state corporation. Separately, I would like to thank the crews of nuclear icebreakers and the Headquarters of Maritime Operations of the FSBI GlavSevmorput. Their coordinated actions made it possible to ensure the safety and rhythm of navigation in the waters of the North Sea Route.'
Now summer-autumn navigation has begun in the waters of the North Sea Route. Let us remind that on 2 July, in the area of Cape Zhelaniya, the nuclear icebreaker Vaygach of the FSUE Atomflot took three vessels under escort. This is the first voyage in an eastern direction to deliver petroleum products and cargo to remote areas of the country (with limited delivery times for summer navigation). Currently, the caravan is heading to the Laptev Sea.
