Putin in Murmansk gave a start to the dispatch of the first LNG line for the Arctic LNG-2 plant

The ceremony was held during the state leader's visit to the Murmansk Region.

20 July 2023

In Murmansk, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the start of the North Sea Route shipment of the first gas liquefaction process line on gravity-type bases for Arctic LNG-2 to the place of operation on the Gydan Peninsula. This is reported by Kommersant.

Leonid Mikhelson, head of NOVATEK, asked the president to give a hoot. The head of state folded his hands at his lips jokingly and then turned to the rig and turned the lever. A prolonged beep was heard.

Arctic LNG-2 is NOVATEK's second large-capacity liquefied natural gas project after Yamal LNG. The Utrenneye deposit is the resource base. The project will build three processing lines with a capacity of 6.6 mn tons each, i.e. 19.8 mn tons of LNG per year.
