The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) plans to hand over seven nuclear-powered icebreakers to customers by 2030, which will make it possible to form the backbone of Russia's icebreaker group, the corporation's CEO Andrey Puchkov said at the launching ceremony of the nuclear-powered icebreaker Chukotka. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

'In total, the United Shipbuilding Corporation plans to hand over seven nuclear-powered icebreakers by 2030. This will make it possible to form the backbone of a high-tech icebreaker group,' Puchkov said.

The Chukotka icebreaker is the fifth vessel (fourth serial vessel) of Project 22220, built at the Baltic Shipyard under the order of Rosatom State Corporation. The vessel was laid down on the slipway of the enterprise in December 2020.
