New fish plant in Kondopoga to reach full capacity by year-end
The Head of Karelia, Artur Parfenchikov, assessed the modern production of planting material—trout and Atlantic salmon fry.
1 August 2024INARCTICA North-West LLC launched a new plant this year. By next year, the company plans to reach full capacity and produce up to 6 mn Atlantic salmon and trout fry. The planting material is intended for the company's own fish farms in the Murmansk Region and Karelia. The first shipments from the test batch are scheduled for late August. In total, the 'harvest' is planned to be collected three times a year. The facility has 16 pools, each with a volume of 260 cu m. The press service of the Government of the Republic of Karelia reported this.
Over RUB 4 bn have already been invested in the enterprise. With the support of the Government of the Republic of Karelia, the enterprise was connected to the power grid, gas and water supply. Today the plant employs 55 people—47 of whom are residents of the Kondopozhsky district. The staff includes biologists, ichthyologists and engineers. The construction of the second phase of the plant is also being discussed today.
