Nenets Autonomous Area may be among the leaders in the development of unmanned technologies. An agreement was signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) to develop the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the region. The document was signed by Yuri Bezdudny, governor of the NAA, and Igor Kalganov, CEO of T1 Holding. This is reported by the press service of the NAA governor.

'Previously, the task of delivering goods in the region had to be handled by costly helicopter flights or deliveries by water. Now it's solved in 40 minutes—the drone has time to deliver, unload, load and return to its starting point. This is a dramatic leap both in terms of technology and opening the sky to unmanned aviation,' said Igor Kalganov, CEO of T1 Holding.

Pilots and flight personnel for unmanned aircraft maintenance will be able to receive training right in the county. In the future, both production and the UAV maintenance centre will be localised here, which will create new jobs in the region.

Special attention will be paid to young professionals: students will also be able to learn how to use the UAV. It is planned that unmanned aerial vehicles will provide about 30 settlements in NAA and rotational fields with the necessary goods and postal services. The agreement on the development of unmanned technologies also includes the development of environmental monitoring by means of UAVs.
