'Even amid sanctions, the project is being successfully implemented. 200 megawatts of clean energy will help mitigate the man-made environmental footprint. For our part, we provide every support measure, including tax breaks. Also, the wind farm has already become a tourist magnet,' said the head of the Murmansk Region Andrey Chibis. The news was reported by the regional government's media office.

In June 2017, Enel Russia PJSC won the bidding to build a wind generation facility with a capacity of 200.97 MW in the Murmansk Region.

'The construction of the Kola Wind Farm, the largest power plant of its type beyond the Arctic Circle, is a strategic objective of Enel Russia PJSC. We fully maintain the obligations we have assumed under this project. We are now at the final stage of wind turbine installation; meanwhile, the power equipment is being commissioned,' said the Director General of Enel Russia PJSC.

Zhanna Sedova thanked the head of the region and the regional government for their support.

The Kola Wind Farm construction project is aimed at solving several objectives of the Strategies for the socio-economic development of the Murmansk Region until 2020 and until 2025; namely, the elimination of energy-related obstacles for the region's socio-economic development and improving the energy efficiency of the local economy. It is also expected to help shape a favourable investment climate.
