8 July 2024

Oyva Timonen, an entrepreneur from Kalevala, opened a bakery and hotel business in his native settlement. This is reported by the press service of the Government of the Republic of Karelia.

Timonen trained as a pastry chef at Kostomuksha College and returned to Kalevala to open a bakery. The man raised part of the funds on his own and received the rest thanks to a district grant. In 2022, the entrepreneur applied for the Hectare in the Arctic and received a plot for the construction of a guest house.

'There are more than enough people who want to relax on Lake Kuytto, ride SUP boards and go fishing! I’m sure the business will flourish,' Parfenchikov said.

'Who else wants to get their "hectare in the Arctic"? Let me remind you that applications are accepted through the Gosuslugi portal or the website надальнийвосток.рф. The programme applies to the Kostomukshsky urban district, Kalevalsky, Loukhsky and Kemsky districts, Segezhsky and Belomorsky municipal districts. Land can be obtained for any purpose, depending on the type of permitted use,' the head of Karelia added on his Telegram channel.
