The Norilsk Development Agency (NDA) together with specialists from Roshydromet, Zapovedniki Taimyra, Taimyr Local History Museum, tour operators Anabar Tour and Magic Taiga explored tourist opportunities of polar weather stations and interesting natural sites. This is reported by the Taimyr Telegraph.

Over four days, the experts visited the most remote and little-studied areas of the Arctic tourism and recreation cluster. Helicopter flights were organised by Nornickel.

Recall that at the last Norilsk Interregional Forum, NDA and the Northern Department of Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring signed an agreement on the use of meteorological stations for tourism purposes.

'We visited three polar weather stations, two of which are currently in operation. We managed to assess their potential for internal and external tourists and agree with polar explorers on further cooperation. Another important task of our trip was to study the geographical, biological and ethnographic features of the remote territories of the tourist cluster, to determine the tourist potential of interesting natural sites and rich fauna,' explained Maksim Mironov, Director of the NDA.

The expedition made it possible to update the master plan of the Arctic tourist cluster and explore promising areas of tourism development.
