Aleksey Chekunkov, candidate for head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, listed 10 key priorities for the Far East and Arctic through 2030, including building 1,000 new facilities and developing transport corridors and international relations. This was reported by TASS.

'Firstly, to implement 38 master plans (22 in the Far East and 16 in the Arctic), build nearly 1,000 new facilities, and secondly, to enhance transport corridors (North Sea Route capacity to reach 150 mn tons by 2030, and Eastern Polygon up to 270 mn tons by 2032),' he stated during his speech in the State Duma.

Chekunkov's third priority is to power economic development through new energy generation projects aimed at covering a 1,900-megawatt shortfall in the Far East by 2030. The fourth priority is securing Russia's leadership in Arctic science and northern development technologies. The fifth priority involves boosting tourism by tripling tourist numbers compared to 2023, including proposals to expand visa-free agreements with neighbouring countries. Attracting investment has been designated as the sixth priority.

Another priority set by Chekunkov is the digitalisation of regional management. Enhancing trade and investment with China, India and other Asia-Pacific countries is the eighth priority. The ninth priority focuses on supplying the economy with skilled personnel, while the tenth supports Special Military Operation, including through the ASEZ 'Patriotic' (ASEZ 'Patrioticheskaya').
