The Erel portable radio station, which serves as an alternative to satellite communication and is designed for use in remote areas, has been officially certified. Nikolay Nakhodkin, Chairman of the Council of the Yakutsk Regional Branch of the Russian Union of Rescuers, reported this to TASS.

'After extensive research, a radio station named Erel, which translates as 'hope' from Yakutian, was developed,' Nakhodkin announced. He clarified that the radio station is intended to improve the emergency alert and information system in Yakutia through short-wave communication.

The radio was tested by reindeer herders and emergency services personnel, receiving positive feedback, as noted by the agency's source. The radio station is portable, weighs approximately 1 kg, and features a pocket-sized wire antenna. The communication range spans 300–500 km and is not affected by the landscape.

Additionally, more powerful Dolina shortwave radios, which can be installed in district centres, and Zimovye radios, designed for heating points on winter roads, have been developed. These radios function similarly to street police phones, featuring a few buttons, and can only be used to contact the district's Unified Duty Dispatch Service.
