A key phase of ice-breaking structures has been completed at the Utrenny terminal

Yuzhnoye and Severnoye Ice Protection Structures will protect the water area from drifting ice that could damage berths and vessels.

Rosatom's Hydrographic Enterprise has completed the sinking of the pile foundation, a key stage in the construction of ice protection structures at the Utrenny terminal in the port of Sabetta (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area). This was reported by TASS, citing the company's press service.

A total of 5,759 piles were sunk into the ground during the construction of the Yuzhnoye and Severnoye Ice Protection Structures at the Utrenny liquefied natural gas and stable gas condensate terminal in the port of Sabetta. Yuzhnoye and Severnoye Ice Protection Structures, which Hydrographic Enterprise is building as part of the construction of the Utrenny terminal, will protect the water area from drifting ice that could damage berths and vessels. The length of the Severnoye Ice Protection Structure will be 1.3 km, and that of the Yuzhnoye Ice Protection Structure will be 3.1 km, according to the press service.

The Utrenny terminal is being built in the seaport of Sabetta as part of the Arctic LNG-2 project. The construction of the terminal, including federally owned facilities (underwater hydraulic engineering structures, ice protection structures, maritime safety facilities), as well as the reconstruction of the sea canal, are included in the Comprehensive Plan for the Modernisation and Expansion of Trunk Infrastructure until 2024, approved by Russian government order.

The terminal consists of a sheltered water area with various berths, engineering infrastructure and a waterfront area with administrative buildings and facilities. The berth provides a year-round reception service for ships.
