'Soul of Russia' International Festival of the Peoples of the North opens at SPIEF 2023

The opening of the 'Soul of Russia' International Festival of the Peoples of the North was held on the site of the Lenfilm film studio on 14 June. The festival aims to showcase the contemporary achievements of artists, designers, craftspeople, photographers—all creative industries from the northern regions in the cultural sphere, with a focus on regional and ethnic characteristics.
The festival's events focus on a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditions, historical heritage and unique handicrafts of the indigenous peoples of the North. More than 400 musicians, artists, folk craftsmen, designers, lecturers and other representatives of creative industries from 15 regions of the Russian North participate in the festival.
The event will include 14 exhibitions, more than 20 workshops and 16 film screenings, including a preview screening of the film Ugra Novels. In addition, six national houses and the works of seven street art artists will be installed, there will be more than 20 lectures, three fashion shows and more than 20 music groups.
