More than 460 state-supported projects are being implemented in the Arctic, the amount of investment under agreements exceeds 1.3 trillion rubles, according to the RIA Novosti citing a statement by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev.

'Today, more than 460 state-supported projects are being implemented in the Arctic, the amount of investment under agreements exceeds 1.3 trillion rubles. 30,000 jobs will be created as a result of their implementation,' Trutnev said at a meeting on the development of the Russian Arctic zone, held by President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Yuri Trutnev also spoke about the largest projects in the Arctic. Thus, according to him, Segezha West will be the first project to create a pulp and paper mill for the past 40 years, and the Arctic LNG 2 project creates a unique centre of large-scale offshore facilities. The development of the Syradasayskoye coking coal deposit will ensure the transportation of up to seven million tons of coal along the North Sea Route by 2026.
