Novatek has finalised the installation of a gas liquefaction line on a gravity-base structures (the first phase of the large-scale Arctic LNG-2 plant) on a marine structure in the Utrenny terminal waters on Gydan, as reported by TASS, citing the company.

‘The unique advantage of our Offshore Superfacility Construction Yard (OSCY) production base in the Murmansk Region is the capability to mass-produce liquefaction lines: the Arctic LNG-2 project's second line is undergoing the advanced construction phase. Besides, we commenced work on the concrete foundation for the third line,’ noted Leonid Mikhelson, head of Novatek.

The company has already started connecting the first line to onshore gas extraction facilities to finalise commissioning and initiate the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The LNG processing line with a capacity of 6.6 million tons per year was towed by sea from CSKMS in the Murmansk Region to the Gydan Peninsula and installed on a prepared marine structure in the coastal area.

The platform was towed and set up in 22 days. The platform is the heaviest object ever moved in the global history of the LNG industry: 640,000 tons in weight, 330 m in length, 152 m in width and 90 m in height.
