The solutions adapted for the conditions of the Far North were used in the construction, Alexander Volkov, head of the Airports Division of Spectrum Group, told the Krasny Sever news agency.

To ensure that the asphalt on the runway could be paved in time and without loss of quality during the short Arctic summer, three Volvo asphalt paving machines were used at once. This allowed for faster paving and ensured that the runway was completed on time.

The airport uses modern LED lighting equipment. 'Such equipment at the airfield complex has been installed for the first time in Russia and makes it possible to significantly reduce energy costs in its operation,' explained Alexander Volkov.

The boarding bridges were also used for the first time in the Far North, with increased thermal capacity so that passengers do not freeze when boarding even in extremely cold temperatures.

Not only is Novy Urengoy airport one of the most interesting in terms of architecture, but it is also smart. According to a Spectrum Group expert, the project was implemented using Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology, and the digital models were 'brought to life' using augmented reality technology.

The new terminal was built in two years under a concession agreement between the YNAA government and the Airports of Regions Holding.
