17 February 2023In 2023-2025, the Children of the Arctic programme will draw nearly RUB 1.35 billion from the federal budget, reports TASS, citing a presentation to the report of the Minister for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, Aleksey Chekunkov.
The Children of the Arctic programme allows schoolchildren in grades 5-8 living in Russia's Arctic Zone to visit summer camps in Russian resorts at the expense of the state, which covers their accommodation and transportation costs. Parents who want their children to participate in the program must submit an application. Families can exercise the right to a paid vacation no more than once per calendar year.
"We are happy that last year, 9,600 children were able to visit Russia's southern resorts. The Children of the Arctic programme continues in 2023," said Aleksey Chekunkov in his report.
