Strategic project implemented for the Murmansk Region by a new 'Stolitsa Arktiki' ASEZ resident
A new resident of the 'Stolitsa Arktiki' ASEZ is set to build a modern, competitive, specialised bulk terminal in the port of Murmansk.23 декабря 2020
An agreement on the implementation of the investment project was signed by the Tuloma Marine Terminal and the Far East Development Corporation.
'The Terminal will have an annual capacity of 4 million tonnes, with the possibility of expanding it up to 6 million tonnes', says Dmitry Sukhonosov, General Director of Tuloma Sea Terminal LLC. 'The sea terminal that we plan to build is intended for transloading exported non-hazardous mineral fertilisers and apatite concentrate from rail to sea transport. The terminal's freight traffic will be ensured with a cargo of a large, vertically-integrated Russian company, one of the world's leading producers of phosphorus fertilisers'.
The new terminal will be in high demand, given the growth prospects of the production and export of mineral fertilisers, as well as the rerouting of their transhipment from Baltic to Russian ports. Russian companies are consistently among the top five largest producers of mineral fertilisers in the world, with over 70 per cent of their products being exported, and more than 30 per cent of exports being shipped by sea. However, not all manufacturers have their own terminals or long-term contracts for transloading their products.
